The Dragonfly ID app is a comprehensive and user-friendly resource for finding and identifying dragonflies and damselflies across the US and Canada. It caters to both experienced dragonfly enthusiasts and beginners, providing assistance in locating dragonflies in your area, identifying the species you come across, and learning more about them.
Furthermore, Dragonfly ID allows users to effortlessly view and contribute Odonata sightings from the field. This valuable citizen science project contributes to our understanding of Odonata distributions and populations.

PLEASE NOTE: The initial release of sighting submission has significant limitations:
- Sightings cannot currently be edited after submission, but we are actively working on implementing this feature and expect it to be available within a few weeks. In the meantime, please let us know if there is an urgent need to edit or delete a sighting.
- Currently, sightings submitted through the app are not sent to OdonataCentral. Although this functionality will be incorporated in the future (around 1 year), the app will display these sightings separately from regular OdonataCentral sightings.
- Sightings submitted via the app are not reviewed by OdonataCentral experts.
Dragonfly ID is a collaborative effort between BirdsEye, OdonataCentral, and the Xerces Society. We express our gratitude to the Dragonfly Society of the Americas, OdonataCentral users, the Migratory Dragonfly Partnership, and PondWatch for their valuable contributions to this project's data.
